The Write Remedy

Please contact Dr. Kathleen Perkins if you wish to schedule, or participate in the two workshops she offers: “The Write Remedy: Healing through Writing” and “The Power of Forgiveness: Writing to Heal.” (kathleen7perkins@gmail.com Phone: 503-360-6591)

Writing my memoir, Flight Instructions: A Journey Through Guilt to Forgiveness, provided the impetus necessary to propel me onto the final stages of forgiving myself. The workshops evolved out of that personal journey of healing through writing.

The Write Remedy: Healing through Writing

This interactive workshop introduces participants to writing as a therapeutic tool. Writing becomes a powerful outlet for expressing thoughts and feelings related to painful life’s events. Participants will learn unique writing techniques that can lead to healing life’s wounds, and learn the fluidity of the steps for going from guilt/pain/shame to forgiveness. No amount of guilt can solve the past, forgiveness can.

Forgiveness is on-going part of our overall, vibrant life condition. Participants will also learn how to incorporate a writing/hearing/bearing-witness component, as a means of forgiveness leading to closure of piercing life blows.

The Power of Forgiveness: Writing to Heal

This writing workshop is for persons who long to heal a piercing life wound that begs forgiveness? This is a spiritually-based, interactive workshop where participants will learn how to incorporate a writing/hearing/bearing-witness component, as a means of forgiveness. Writing becomes a powerful outlet for expressing feelings about emotionally challenging experiences.

Participants will experience a new approach to writing as a therapeutic tool for healing and learn unique writing techniques that can lead to healing life’s most painful traumas. Those attending will begin by examining thought patters and believe systems and then explore guilt/pain/shame, on the way to forgiveness. We culminate with exercises on grief and gratitude.

NOTE: there are overlaps between these two workshops in terms of content and process; however the Power of Forgiveness workshop spends the bulk of the time moving from fear to love leading to forgiveness.

These 12-hour writing workshops have been taught in several different formats:

  • 2 – 6 hour sessions
  • 3 – 4 hour sessions
  • 4 – 3 hour sessions
  • Retreat format: can be divided up into two or three days.

Please contact Dr. Kathleen Perkins if you wish to schedule, or participate in “The Write Remedy: Healing through Writing” workshop. (503-360-6591)
